Description
Contrary to previous generations where sources of information were limited (think three broadcast networks) and edited before release, the 21st Century will perhaps be the most noted for the amount of information and data to which we are exposed on a minute-by-minute basis. At the same time, an increasingly complex and technological society is requiring more 'scientific literacy' of everyone. This class will focus on understanding and being comfortable using different sources of information in the sciences, both academic and popular, in various formats including print and online. During this class we will discuss these different sources and formats, strategies for evaluating information reliability, and how these information sources apply to our everyday lives.
