Description
This course will examine this history of Christmas traditions in the U.S. We will consider how medieval Christians established traditions for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the process adopted elements from pre-Christian Roman and Germanic holidays to help spread the faith. It will then examine how modern Americans adopted the holiday and the ways in which they modified and built upon the older traditions.
