Description
Italy’s position in the middle of the Mediterranean has made it a nexus of invaders from many different places. We will focus on the thousand-year period between the Fall of the Roman Empire and the emergence of modern Italy. The many invasions of Italy during this period had effects, not only on Italy, but on Europe and more. The invaders came from every direction, from as far away as Central Asia to the east and Scandinavia to the north. We will discuss the reasons behind these invasions and their effects on history.
