Description
Spain has a great number of historic producers, many of whom have made quality wines for centuries. In addition, many new and ultra-modern wineries are now driving innovation and raising the bar for quality wines, especially in Spain’s most famous wine region, Rioja. Rioja is located in the northeastern part of Spain, in the Ebro River Basin, which flows southeast to the Mediterranean. The region has a wide variety of soils, ranging from fine-grained clays to sand and coarse pebbles. We will explore how these features combine to form the terroir of the Rioja region, with specific wine tastings chosen to highlight regional differences.
